Moving out Checklist

A checklist for moving out is designed to make sure that you can move out with ease and in a systematic matter. It will also help the moving company organize your stuff so that it can be categorized and packed easily. A moving company should ensure that they will move your things and appliances safely and quickly to your new place.

When you make your moving out list, make sure that it is comprehensive. All your belongings should be listed down and marked which box it belongs to. In this way, the moving company can easily pack your items in the correct box before they seal the boxes out ready to be moved to your new home. The moving out list you create should also be given to the person who will be waiting at your home, preferably your spouse or a relative so that they can be trusted to have your interest at heart.

When you choose a moving company, there are some things to look out for before you decide on them. But before that, ask for recommendations from your friends and family. You should probe deeper on why they have recommended a particular mover to you. Once you have shortlisted a few, narrow it further by ensuring that the mover you will choose meets the following criteria:

· The moving company is licensed and insured. This will give you a cushion of safety knowing that in case of damage your things are insured.

· Your movers should be bonded. The bond is a protection against theft.

· Get your pricing agreements into writing. Make sure that there no other sudden moving out fees that will show up when you pay a fix fee.

The following are things that should alarm you when you choose a company that will help you move your things to your new location:

· They will only move you on a cash basis. That’s because credit cards leave a financial trail and proof of payment. Legitimate companies allow for different ways of payment, including credit cards and checks.

· Insane low price. Be wary of extremely low rates. This could be a scam and your valuables could be stolen and you’ll find yourself paying more in the end.
